TRINITAS ENCOURAGES MOM TO BREAST FEED BABY FOR 12 MONTHS
Roselle Park Mom and newborn receive Medela equipment
There were smiles all around among nursing staff members as proud parents Maria Osario and Jorge Rivera of Roselle Park welcomed their first child, daughter Camila, at Trinitas Regional Medical Center on January 1. Not only born on the first day of 2014, Camila also has the distinction of being the first newborn whose mother has decided to take part in the "Breast is Best" program at Trinitas.
Born at 5:42pm on Wednesday, January 1, Camila will benefit from her motherís breast milk for one full year as part of this special program. Mother, Maria Osario, received a breast pump donated by Medela Breastfeeding US, headquartered in McHenry, Illinois. The US subsidiary of Swiss-based Medela is among 13 worldwide distribution partners which provide breast pumps and breastfeeding accessories to nursing mothers around the world. Since 1961, Medela has championed breastfeeding and developed products based on research of leading lactation experts. Trinitas is among the 80% of US hospitals that choose Medela breast pumps for their new mothers and newborns.
Baby Camila also received a collection of hand-knitted layette items donated by the South Plainfield Senior Center Knitting and Crochet Group and a basket of newborn supplies from members of the Labor and Delivery and Mother/Baby units at Trinitas.
