WILLIAM FARRER, MD NAMED ACP LAUREATE
Trinitas physician specializes in infectious diseases and teaching
William Farrer, MD, specialist in infectious diseases at Trinitas Regional Medical Center, has been awarded the Laureate Honor from the New Jersey Chapter of the American College of Physicians (ACP), the national organization of internists. The Laureate Award is one of 20 national awards and a number of Masterships the ACP gives each year.
As a Laureate, Dr. Farrer has been honored as a Fellow of the ACP who "has demonstrated by example or conduct an abiding commitment to excellence in medical care, education or research, and in service to their community, their chapter, and the ACP." Dr. Farrer has served on the ACP New Jersey Chapter Governor's Council for nine years and has been involved in coordinating the annual Associates' Abstract Competition since 2007. Among the 20 abstracts submitted as posters at this year's Annual Scientific Meeting, two were the work of Trinitas-based medical residents, Lavayna Viswanathan, MD, and Alina Basnet, MD.
For 25 years, Dr. Farrer has been the Associate Director of the Internal Medicine Residency Program at Trinitas. Under his direction, medical residents in the program have received prestigious fellowships at nationally-renowned institutions such as Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine; Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center; Emory University School of Medicine, and Wake Forest University.
A resident of Springfield, New Jersey, Dr. Farrer is a graduate of Harvard College and Harvard Medical School.
