GOOD HEALTH CAN BEGIN AT SEPTEMBER 4 EVENT
Trinitas and Bayway Family Success Center host free healthy families event
"Back to School" means a return to routines and dealing with the demands of hectic schedules for both kids and parents. Working together, Trinitas Regional Medical Center and Bayway Family Success Center will use numerous resources as they host a free event promoting awareness of how good health can have a positive impact on a child's success at school.
Trinitas is presenting its "Back to School Health Fair" on Thursday, September 4,2014, from 4-7:30 pm at the Bayway Family Success Center located at the Mravlag Manor Community Center, 688 Maple Avenue in Elizabeth.
Health care professionals from Trinitas will provide high blood pressure screenings and information on raising healthy kids, kidney and heart health, healthy eating and nutrition, the importance of healthy sleep for children, and more. Healthy living coach Nancy Lessner will talk about childhood obesity and diabetes. Representatives from the YMCA will share information about healthy choices and benefits of physical education. Proceed, Inc. will conduct HIV screenings.
"Our plan is to provide an event where parents and their children can access helpful and useful information," explains Joe McTernan, Senior Directorof Community and Clinical Services, at Trinitas Regional Medical Center. "Armed with this information, parents will be better prepared to deal with the health issues that families may face from September through June. We hope that what we share will become guidelines for raising healthy kids all year long."
