GARY HORAN RECEIVES LIFETIME AWARD FROM ACHE
Trinitas CEO saluted for 44 years of healthcare leadership
The American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), recently presented its 2015 Regent Lifetime Award to Gary S. Horan, FACHE, President & Chief Executive Officer of Trinitas Regional Medical Center, in recognition of his 44 years of excellence in healthcare management. Nancy DiLiegro, PhD, FACHE, the ACHE Regent for Northern New Jersey presented the award at the Regent Annual Breakfast and Awards program in January. Dr. DiLiegro is also Vice President/Clinical Operations & Physician Services/Chief Clinical Officer of Trinitas Regional Medical Center.
Michael Friedberg, Chair of the Awards Committee for the Regent Advisory Council, stated, "Gary Horan has given a lifetime of service to the ACHE. He has had a long and distinguished career, and his activities have earned him both regional and national attention." Friedberg cited Horan's participation in local, state and health association activities, his work in the community, and his advancement of healthcare management excellence.
According to Horan, "When you do something you love, you never just 'go to work.' You go to your passion. Healthcare management has been my passion for 44 years. I am fortunate to work with very talented colleagues, and I am blessed to have the constant support of my wife, Arlene." Horan joined Trinitas Regional Medical Center as CEO in 2001. Previously, he served as the President and CEO of Our Lady of Mercy Healthcare System, Bronx, New York, and he has held senior leadership positions with New York University Medical Center, and St. Vincent's Hospital and Medical Center of New York. He earned his B.S. degree in Economics from St. Peter's University, Jersey City, and his M.A. degree in Health Care Administration from the George Washington University, School of Government and Business.
Among his many professional and civic appointments, Horan is past Chairman and current Board member of the Hospital Alliance of New Jersey, past Chairman and current member of the Board of Governors of the Greater New York Hospital Association, and a past Chairman of the Hospital Association of New York State. Currently he serves as a member of the Board of the Catholic Healthcare Partnership of New Jersey and a member of the Board of Directors of the New Jersey State Chamber of Commerce. He is a member of the Board of the New Jersey Hospital Association, and the Union County College Board of Governors.
The American College of Healthcare Executives is an international professional society of more than 40,000 healthcare executives in a network of 80 chapters who lead hospitals, healthcare systems and other healthcare organizations.
