DR. MACKESSY RECEIVES PRESTIGIOUS EDUCATOR AWARD
Chair of Orthopedics Department receives honor for his efforts
Richard P. Mackessy, MD, Chairman of Orthopedics at Trinitas Regional Medical Center in Elizabeth, was a 2015 Edward J. Ill Excellence in Medicine honoree at a recent ceremony held in Lawrenceville. He received the Outstanding Medical Educator Award which is presented each year to a medical educator who has made an outstanding contribution to graduate or undergraduate medical education in New Jersey.
Dr. Mackessy is a member of the Trinitas Regional Medical Center Board of Trustees and the Trinitas Health Board of Trustees. His association with Trinitas goes back to 1995 and his service as President of the Medical Staff and membership on the Board of Trustees of Elizabeth General Medical Center (EGMC). Dr. Mackessy was instrumental in the successful merger of EGMC with St. Elizabeth Hospital that resulted in the creation of Trinitas in January, 2000. He is a past recipient of the Teacher of the Year Award from the Department of Orthopedics of University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.
In 2013, the United Hospital Fund honored Dr. Mackessy with its Distinguished Trustee Award for his dedication to the Trinitas Regional Medical Center Board of Trustees and the Trinitas Health Board of Trustees.
