Cranford VFW post chosen for its central location

In order to assist veterans in issues they may face following their deployment, Trinitas Regional Medical Center’s Department of Behavioral Health & Psychiatry has launched a multi-faceted program designed to offer a wide range of classes and workshops specifically geared to veterans and their families.

The free program addresses aspects of healthy living such as proper nutrition, stress management, living with chronic diseases, and substance abuse.

The more than 30 programs are offered on a rotating basis in evenings over five months to make the program as convenient as possible for participants.

"Veterans are faced with a variety of issues, from physical and emotional health to stress management, proper nutrition and becoming more physically fit," explains Linda Reynolds, who coordinates and supervises the program as Director of Adult Outpatient Mental Health Services at Trinitas.

"In our clinical setting, we saw growing numbers of military vets who, as a segment of the population, were dealing with complicated common issues. Based on our experience with this population, our clinicians saw an excellent opportunity to create a bundle of programs that vets could easily access."

The result is a series of one and two hour sessions that begins in February and continues through June.

The individual programs are scheduled Monday and Wednesday evenings to accommodate veterans and their families. "Trinitas is proud to launch its Health Institute for Veterans which we believe will truly benefit veterans who take advantage of this worthwhile program," notes Linda. "We chose to offer the classes and workshops at the Cranford VFW post on South Avenue because of its central location in Union County. At Trinitas, we’ve made a strong commitment to veterans in our area to help them achieve the quality of life that they and their families so richly deserve."

The Trinitas Health Institute for Veterans classes and workshops are offered FREE of charge. Sessions take place at the Cranford VRW Post located at 479 South Avenue in Cranford. The programs begin on February 1 and continue through June 29. They are held at 6:30 pm on Mondays and Wednesday evenings. For more information about the full schedule and to register for any of these sessions or workshops, call Linda Reynolds at 908-994–7278.
