TRINITAS HEALTH FOUNDATION GALA SET FOR MAY 12
"Rising to the Challenge" takes place at The Venetian in Garfield
The Trinitas Health Foundation will host its annual Gala on Thursday, May 12. The Gala whose theme is "Rising to the Challenge" returns for the fifth consecutive year to The Venetian in Garfield, New Jersey.
The Gala at the breathtaking Venetian will offer an exciting cocktail hour, a sumptuous dinner, and live entertainment, in a spectacular setting that never disappoints. The Gala includes its ever-popular Silent Auction, a 50/50 cash raffle, and other opportunities to win exciting and extremely desirable items. Returning to the podium as emcee is Elizabethís own NJ Burkett, Channel 7 WABC Eye Witness News broadcast journalist. And, back by popular demand, are The Infernos, the multi-talented musicians and vocalists known for their dynamic energy.
At this year's Gala, a $4 million challenge grant from the JC Kellogg Foundation will be announced. This funding will be added to the $10.7 million already donated to complete the $18.7 million expansion and renovation of the Trinitas Regional Medical Center Emergency Department. Completion of the ambitious project is expected in 2017.
The "Humanitarian Award" will be presented posthumously to Mortimer "Mort" Gershman, long time member of the Trinitas Health and Trinitas Health Foundation Boards. Elected to the Board of Elizabeth General Medical Center in 1984, Mr. Gershman played a key role in the ultimate consolidation of Elizabeth General Medical Center and St. Elizabeth Hospital that created Trinitas in January 2000. As a member of the Trinitas Health Board until January 2012, he served on the Finance, Joint Conference and Ethics Committees. He also served two terms as a treasurer on the Board of Trinitas Health and on the Board of Trinitas Regional Medical Center. Jackie Gershman will accept the award in her husbandís honor.
The "Celebrating Philanthropy Award" will be presented to Carroll McNulty Kull Law, LLC, based in Basking Ridge, New York, Philadelphia, Chicago, and Austin. Catherine J. Flynn, an attorney associated with the firm at the Basking Ridge offices, currently heads the Trinitas Health Foundation Board of Trustees.
"In many ways, those we are honoring this year have 'risen to the challenge' for Trinitas through their support and commitment to our mission, vision and values," explains Nadin Brechner, Chief Development Officer, and Vice President of Trinitas Health Foundation. "They were, and are, behind us as we move forward in our continuing efforts to provide excellent healthcare to our community."
