TRINITAS SCHOOL OF NURSING GRADUATES 88
Eighty-eight students received their Associates in Science Degrees at the Trinitas School of Nursing (TSON) Convocation Ceremony held recently at Union County College (UCC). Surrounded by family, friends, and staff that provided guidance along the way, the graduates received praises and accolades for their dedication and passion. Students described the rewards and challenges they faced and how the cooperative nursing program offered by TSON and UCC made their journey toward a professional nursing career worthwhile.
TSON has been in continuous operation since it was first established as the Elizabeth General Hospital School of Nursing in 1891. The class of January, 2017 is the 157th class to graduate from the school. Included in the class are 23 graduates who entered the nursing program as Licensed Practical Nurses. As part of the cooperative nursing program, the graduates also received a Diploma in Nursing from Trinitas Regional Medical Center.
President & CEO of Trinitas Regional Medical Center, Gary S. Horan, FACHE, addressed the January 2017 graduating class with a few words of wisdom. “Always remember you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars and change the world, and I think this class will do just that!”

About Trinitas School of Nursing
Trinitas School of Nursing conducts a Cooperative Nursing Program with Union County College and confers a Diploma in Nursing from Trinitas and an Associate Degree from the College. Initially offering nursing studies as the Elizabeth General Medical Center School of Nursing, Trinitas School of Nursing has been in continuous operation since 1891. The Cooperative Nursing Program offers a Diploma in Nursing from Trinitas School of Nursing and an Associate in Science Degree from Union County College upon successful completion of the curriculum. Fully accredited by the New Jersey State Board of Nursing and the Accreditation Commission for Nursing Education, Inc., the program offers a basic course of study in nursing. It provides a sound theoretical base of knowledge in the nursing, biological, behavioral and sociological sciences and integrates this knowledge into academic and practical experiences within the health and illness continuum of client care. Utilization of a variety of health care agencies facilitates the application of all aspects of the students’ learning. Students earn a total of 75 credits in the Cooperative Nursing Program. Upon graduation, students are eligible to sit for the National Council Licensing Examination (NCLEX) for Registered Nurse Licensure.
