An Unexpected Family Reunion and a Bench that brings life full circle.

Anthony Crincoli

memory of June Palmieri Crincoli

June Palmieri Crincoli was a bright and wonderful young woman who at the start of her career had a
passion for taking care of geriatric patients at St. Elizabeth General – now known as Trinitas Regional Medical Center/RWJBarnabas Health.

Tragically, June passed away at the age of 24 leaving a hole in the hearts of her husband, Anthony Crincoli, her family, and her patients.

As the 45th Anniversary of June’s passing approached, her beloved husband Tony, honored her by supporting Trinitas’ School of Nursing with two recurring scholarships (bi-annually) in her memory. Recently Tony also donated a bench for aging patients with dementia who reside on the Brother Bonaventure unit at Trinitas Regional Medical Center/RWJBarnabas Health. This bench signifies so much for both the family and our patients. Benches offer much more than a respite for tired legs. They also offer the opportunity for social connection and healing to our aging patients in need.

As plans were being made for the nursing school graduation, Laura Ciraco, Vice President, Development Trinitas Regional Medical Center Foundation at a Union County event had a meeting with Ed Palmieri (June’s brother) and at that meeting Ed became aware of the scholarships in his sister’s name.

Coincidently, Ed’s daughter, Kimberly Palmieri Mouded, Vice Chairman, Union County Board of County Commissioners, is a longtime friend of Laura’s. Laura made the connection between the Crincoli and Palmieri families and became the catalyst to reunite the families after 40 years.

Their reunion took place at Kimberly’s home the evening before graduation. The evening brought comfort to everyone as they remembered June and pledged to stay in touch moving forward and to keep their memories of June alive.

We cannot thank Mr. Crincoli enough for providing the bench and scholarships. All of us at Trinitas are proud to continue to honor June’s legacy.
